Documentation

From the log file on the boat to a debrief the whole crew can see.

Quick start

  1. Open the app and create your account — your organisation starts a 30-day free trial for one boat, no card required.
  2. Add your boat under Boats and pick its class (class sets the price band, and it is fixed after that).
  3. Import a log under Import: pick the boat and the format, drop the file, read the preview, commit.
  4. Open Debrief, pick the regatta and race, and scrub. Add your onboard video in the player if you have it.
  5. Invite the crew from organisation settings. Each person gets a role, and every role can open the debrief.

The same path with every screen named, every gate explained and the role table spelled out: Getting started.

Two sections

The documentation splits by the question you are asking. One section answers how do I do this; the other answers where did that number come from.

Where each part is written up

Telemetry sources. Expedition logs and event files, Vakaros .vkx and Connect CSV, a zip of your NMEA 2000 recorder’s .DAT folder, a raw NMEA 0183 sentence log — and the Race Control live uplink, which needs no upload at all. Importing telemetry has the per-format steps, the preview and the venue-timezone question Expedition events ask.

The debrief player. One timeline for the whole race: event marks, the Explorer, the tuning guide, HUD readouts and deep links. The debrief player, and local video and media for your own footage — which never uploads.

Polars and tuning targets. One polar per boat and editable target tables per mode, read at the wind you actually had. Polars and targets, and calibration in practice for the instruments underneath them.

The sails log. Every sail the boat owns and the minutes each one has flown — filled from the tablet, corrected by hand where it was not there. The sails log.

Race Control. The tactical Android app for the boat, running on the tablet you already navigate with: the pre-start line and sequence, the radio course, the race plan routed leg by leg on PATH AHEAD, live targets, the sails log and FINISH, with the telemetry uplink underneath. You are not asked for what the app can find for itself — it listens to the boat’s own network and offers what it hears. Afterwards it replays a recorded race on the same screens, recomputing every number rather than replaying pictures, and sending nothing while it does. What it does, in race order, and Race Control on the boat from the licence to the first gun.

The water, the ships and the crew. Seven alarms — depth, cross-track, arrival, anchor watch, collision, man overboard and lost feed — the AIS targets around you with their closest point of approach, and a man-overboard button that is one press with no confirmation. AIS, alarms and man overboard.

Fleet tracking data (add-on). For events with official tracking, connect your own provider credentials (GEORACING is supported today), browse the event calendar, pick the races to capture and set your bow number. The fleet then appears in the debrief: positions on the map, ranks and legs, the nearest boats around you, and a rival duel per race. It appears on the water too, if you run Race Control — a live overlay of the fleet on the tablet’s own chart, with tails. It is enabled per organisation on request — write to support@nordicstars.ai, because it uses your own tracking-provider account. Once it is enabled you add it per boat, at 15% of that boat’s coverage price on the same subscription; it renews and cancels with the coverage, comes with monthly and yearly coverage, and is offered on every class. Captured data is for your team’s own debrief use.

Support

Questions, class requests, or a log that won’t import — support@nordicstars.ai. Followed a guide and hit a step that does not match the screen? That is a bug in one of the two, and we want to know which.
